Refunds & Returns Policy
Refunds & Returns Policy
Important legal note: The Consumer Protection Act (CPA) provides consumers with certain rights regarding quality, repairs, replacement and refunds. Schools should be aware of these rights and Suppliers must comply where applicable. SAFLII+1
3.1 Summary — Who handles refunds?
EduHub is a marketplace. Refunds and returns are handled by Suppliers. EduHub will facilitate communication but Suppliers retain responsibility for returns, refunds, repairs and replacements in accordance with their own policies and the CPA where applicable.
3.2 Supplier Responsibilities (must state on supplier listing)
Suppliers must:
-
Provide a clear returns and warranty policy on their listing;
-
Honour obligations under the Consumer Protection Act regarding quality, safety, and repair/replacement;
-
Provide a valid tax invoice for purchases and clearly indicate VAT status.
3.3 Typical Remedies Under CPA (Guidance)
-
Where goods are defective, unsafe or not of the quality reasonably expected, the consumer (which can include a School depending on circumstances) may require repair, replacement or refund. Suppliers are required to repair or replace — if repair fails, replacement or refund may be required. See CPA provisions for exact entitlements. SAFLII+1
3.4 How to Request a Return or Refund (Process for Schools)
-
Contact the Supplier using the contact details on the order/listing. Provide order details, photos and a clear description.
-
If unresolved after 5 business days, notify EduHub at support@myeduhub.co.za with full details and supporting documents. EduHub will open an investigation and attempt to mediate.
-
If mediation fails, the School may pursue remedies under the CPA or by agreement with the Supplier.
3.5 Exceptions & Timelines
-
Suppliers may set reasonable return windows (e.g., 7–30 days) for non-defective goods — this must be publicly stated.
-
CPA contains mandatory minimum rights for defects and safety that cannot be waived. Check with a legal advisor for complex cases. SAFLII
